The best ski resorts close by

It´s time to put a pair of ski pants and gloves in your luggage if you are planning to go to visit Barcelona this winter. Here we list some of the best ski resorts near Barcelona and how to get there.

It is probably one of the last things that you think of when you hear Barcelona but in the winters there are many ski slopes with quality snow open for skiers and snowboarders just a few hours from the city.

In fact, there are more than 20 Ski resorts within easy reach of Barcelona and getting there does not have to be complicated. There are trains and busses living from the city center of Barcelona.

The closest ski resort is the one of La Molina with just takes 2 hours from the city.

For those who are willing to travel just a little further, there is the Baqueira-Beret ski resort which is by far one of the better resorts in Spain, most of the time quality snow and never really over crowed.

Barcelona is just a couple of hours away from the Pyrenees where you can find snow-covered slopes from November to April nearly every year.

Ski Resorts

One of the first ski stations in Spain the first commercial ski lift in 1943. In its history, it has gathered sport and fun for all audiences.

It provides 71 km of skiable area spread over 68 tracks for all levels, a large snowpark and the largest superpipe in the Pyrenees. Also great to visit for the non-skier public, it offers a large number of activities, such as excursions in snowmobile machines, snowshoes or snow Segway.

It is part of one giant resort called Alp 2500 with the nearby town of Masella. One of the most accessible recreation areas from Barcelona.

Both in La Molina, as in the regions of Cerdanya, Berguedà, and Ripollès, you can find a wide gastronomic and hotel offer that allows around stay.

To get to the Ski slopes of la Molina it will take about 2 hours from Barcelona by car, bus or train.

1-day pass costs €42 and for children €31.50    2 day pass €80 and for children €60

If you book the ski-bus or ski-train, ski pass is included €42 for adults and €32 for children.

La Masala

La Masala located next to the resort of La Molina at the La Tosa mountain, it is part of the Alp 2500 resort. Masella has 65 runs suitable for all ski and snowboard levels. It offers 9 green trails, 24 blue trails, 22 red trails, and 10 black trails. It also has a snow park with big jumps, rails, and rainbows.

Thursdays from 6 – 8 pm and on Saturdays and holidays from 6.30 – 9.15 pm there is a 10km Illuminated slope for snow fun in the dark.
You can get there in around 2 hours by car or ski-bus.

Price of the ski pass is €45, children €35
If you book the ski-bus, ski-pass is included, €44 per adult, children €34

Baqueira-Beret is the largest ski resort in Spain and for sure one of the better ones of the country.
It is located about 300km from Barcelona and therefore not really a good option to make it a day trip but excellent to do a weekend or mid-week. It takes about 4 hours by car to get there. The nature and the mountains are amazing and it is located in a nice and cozy mountain village. It offers 99 runs which of most are blue and red. In total it offers 146 km of marked pistes.

1-day pass costs €54 and for children €36.    2 day pass €101 and for children €62

You can get there by car only in about 4 hours

The Grand Valira resort in the middle of six small villages makes up as one of the largest ski areas in the Pyrenees. The six areas ( villages) are all connected by a modern lift system. Covering a total of 110 runs over 201km of alpine slopes. With 22 black runs and 3 snowboard parks, it is a great place for the experienced and non-experienced snow fun lover.

To get from Barcelona to the Ski slopes in Andorra it will take about 3.5 hours by bus or by car.

1-day pass costs €52 and for children €35. 2-day pass €97 and for children €65

The ski resort closest to Barcelona, Port del Comte is found in the mountain range of the same name, in the pre-Pyrenees. If has a total of 37 slopes (mostly blue and red runs) and 16 lifts, and whilst natural snow is not guaranteed, the resort’s 256 snow cannons to ensure plenty of fresh powder all season.

To get to the ski slopes of Port del Comte it takes about 1h44 minutes.

To get there by train or bus is possible but complicated.

1 day pass costs €35 and for children €28    2 day pass €63 and for children €50

Vall de Núria ski resort is perfect for children, skiers, snowboarders and nature lovers.

On the other hand, it is a very small ski resort, so if you are an expert this might not be the place to go, but the breathtaking beauty of the landscape makes it a great place to be.

It has  7 km of slopes with 5 ski lifts with a capacity of 4595 skiers/ hour, it is located in a beautiful valley surrounded by peaks of almost 3000 meters. To get to the resort itself is only possible with the rack railway. It is the only way to access Núria’s Valley. The rack railway covering a distance of 12.5 km over an incline of more than 1,000 meters.

Making it a perfect day trip with children even if you do not plan to ski.

The train company offers ski train tickets for adults for the price of €37,60 including, train, rack railway, and ski pass, for children €31.40
